Talking with the experts

A good bakery is a decadently joyous thing –right? But when I decided Book #3 simply had to include a country baker I knew I’d need help.

Malcolm from Yankalilla Bakery came to my rescue and gave me precious insight into running a successful country-style bakery. Thanks Malcolm for showing me behind the scenes, for helping me shape my new character, James Campbell and for baking the very best, most delicious pies and pasties in the State –hell possibly the entire nation. Not to mention your melt-in-the-mouth Lamingtons.

Couldn’t put ‘What Matters Most’ down, and am a bit disappointed I won’t have your second book to read on the way to USA next week…I know it will be worth the wait!

Thanks Cathy. I’m so pleased you enjoyed ‘What Matters Most’. It shouldn’t be long now before we know what is happening with Book #2. Thanks for visiting and good luck with the draw 🙂 x

    To My Favourite Lady
Loved the coastline view and the local lorikeet that just love nipping off all my red bottlebrushes (but can be forgiven as they are colourful birds and I love colourful everything). Just so lucky to live in ‘God’s gift to the World’. Malcolm is one of those really nice people who gives so much to the community. His Bakery has the best ever pies and the most yummy, mouth-watering selection of cakes, as well as the freshest tasty bread. Travelling around Australia and lucky enough to include some of the US and Europe-nowhere compares to his wonderful assortment of delicious foods. I too have seen the making of all that food in the wee hours of the morning. He has great cooks and the serving staff are plentiful and helpful. XO

UM. Wow!!! This looks amazing. How lucky you were to get a behind the scenes look at how bakers work. I am envious! I bet it smelled amazing back there. Can’t wait to read your book!!

You’re right Lauren. It was a treat. I watched them make a table full of pasties, all fresh veg and handmade pastry. And yes, the smells were amazing. Good luck with the draw 🙂

My favourite are the pasties and custard tarts. Feeling like a ride to Yankalilla on the weekend.

    • diannemaguire

I haven’t tried the custard tarts. I must. Good luck with the draw Sandy – a visit to Yankalilla Bakery is a mighty good reason to power up your beast and head on over there 🙂
