Talking with the experts…

It’s been 34 years since I was in a labour ward –not a problem for me until this week.

Writing about a birth was crucial to Book 3’s plot, I had no idea what to write, had to write it NOW and the internet stubbornly refused to give up what I needed. So I went for a walk on the beach (as you do) where I started chatting with the only other humans in sight -a woman and her daughter.

Yep. You guessed it… After a while I discovered that the daughter, Wendy, is an experienced midwife. Two hours and a thousand inane questions later I had everything I needed. She even gave me her contact details in case of more questions. Of course I ran back and whipped that chapter out with a flourish.

Thank you lovely Wendy for choosing the career you chose and for being on the beach at precisely the right moment.

Love, love, love the serendipity of being an author.

That beach can solve any problems!!
Ps. I remember holding Wendy when she was a tiny little baby herself. I was only a kid and felt very trusted to be allowed to hold tiny baby Wendy. Time flies right…

So so special to read this post Rachel. Wendy is a gorgeous young woman and I’m sure she was a beautiful baby as well. And now she’s helping others have their babies. Time flies indeed. Thanks for visiting 🙂
