Look What Dev Found!
Clever Dev was poking around in a lawyer’s library (as lawyers do) and found this . . . it’s the very first book I wrote.
Well, I co-wrote it actually in 2010, with Adelaide writer Bunty Parsons for children’s charity, Time for Kids. It has since been republished in 2014. (Does that make it a best seller? Yay!)
Bunty and I individually interviewed a pile of ordinary people doing extraordinary things . . . . adults and kids who make a profound difference to each others’ lives . . . and then wrote their stories.
Time for Kids is very close to my heart and has been for more than 12 years. It does unique work with miniscule funding, by arranging for SA kids from struggling families to spend time with volunteer families who are not doing it as tough. The difference that simple things made to these kids’ lives, like watching another family communicate, or being given a birthday party, blew me away.
‘It’s About Time,’ is available on line via their web-site or you can pop in to their office at 275 Main North Road Enfield for a free copy.

It sounds like a great book, Dianne! And what a great program. Here in Sydney the Wesley Mission have an Aunties and Uncles program doing similar things to the one you speak of. I admire the volunteers that take care of kids from struggling families!
Hi Sue … I’ve heard of Wesley Mission’s program -another that provides significant relationships and alternative social learning for kids. I think these selfless people deserve medals for the difference they make. Those I know of have said they derive unexpected benefits as well – including outings and activities they wouldn’t have tried otherwise. Hope you’re well -and thanks for visiting Sue xx
